How The Chart Is Compiled, And Why It Is Done This Way.

This is a list of the Top 40 Most Popular Songs released on the Rush Released promotional CD.

The Hotdisc charts are compiled from DJs and industry professionals' ratings of songs currently being promoted on the Rush Released CD. They are not airplay charts, as airplay charts cannot work in Europe as there are no terrestrial country stations in this area. The hundreds of country shows are likely to play a particular song only twice at most in a three month period, therefore rendering airplay charts insignificant in Europe. It works well in America where there are plenty of non-stop country stations but it cannot work here.

The Hotdisc charts are therefore put together weekly using ratings supplied by DJs who give scores to every song on the last three months' editions of Rush Released. The scores are totalled up and averaged out per week to give an accurate guide to the songs which are being championed by the industry. The aim is to showcase the songs which the DJs and media people are pinpointing as top quality songs, which is a very useful exercise, particularly to all our clients and DJs as it is free of politics, hype and rigging and done on merit!

HOTDISC TOP 40 w/s 2nd SEPTEMBER 2010

THE GRASCALS SNEAK THEIR FIRST HOTDISC NUMBER 1

Just when it looked as if R W Hampton was set for a fourth week at the top of the Hotdisc charts, up pop The Grascals to claim the number one position despite dropping down to 3 last week. It was actually a very close run thing over the past few weeks between the bluegrass band, R W and the Bellamy Brothers, but this week it's the turn of the band to look down at everyone from above. Their cover of the Monkees hit - which was also a country success several years ago for a male artist whose name escapes all of us in the office. It was over 20 years ago it happened and if anyone can help jog the memory on who that was we would appreciate that!

While the Bellamys slip back a few places and R W drops to number 2 there's a surge for David Bradley and Guy Penard who climb into the top five this week and have an outside chance of knocking the Grascals off next week - but there's a lot of new competition in seven days time with some very high quality new releases out there on the September Hotdisc, so anything can happen.

David Bradley retains his British and Irish number one slot with "Soak It Up" and he will be the first ever number one song played on the new Hotdisc British & Irish Chart show which goes to air on UKCountryRadio.com presented by Phil Butler on Monday at 8pm. You can click on the link from our home page The Country Hotdisc to listen, and you can also hear the Hotdisc Half Hour with Jackie Storrar who returns to the airwaves after a break. But that is not all the radio news we have for you because next month the Hotdisc Top 40 in association with Airplay Direct will go to air on CMR Nashville in a peak Sunday slot at mid-day, and the exciting news is that the chart day will move from Thursday to Sunday and will be announced exclusively on the two hour Top 40 show which will be presented by Stuart Cameron; so to hear the countdown first tune in to Stuart's brand new programme on Sunday 3rd October.............The Country Hotdisc

R.W. tops Hotdisc Chart in Europe with 'Cowboy's Prayer'!

Nashville, TN - September 8, 2010) Brian Ferriman, president of Savannah Music (USA Inc.) and personal manager of Cimarron Sounds recording artist R.W. Hampton, is pleased to report that Hampton's current European single, Cowboy's Prayer, the leadoff track from his forthcoming international CD release, Austin To Boston, has just finished an impressive three week run at Number One on the European Hotdisc Top 40 Country chart beginning Thursday, August 12 and continuing through Wednesday, September 1. Cowboy's Prayer made its debut on the Hotdisc chart at #2 the week of August 5, moving into the top spot the following week.

The Hotdisc Top 40 Chart is a list of the Top 40 most popular songs released on the Rush Released promotional compilation CD. Similar in concept to the American CDX and CD-Tex compilation CDs sent to subscribing country music radio programmers (chiefly in the United States), the European Rush Released compilation CD is distributed monthly to a subscription list of over 700 country music DJs located primarily in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Each week the DJs who receive Rush Released send back reaction sheets to the publishers of Rush Released in which they are given the chance to rate every song from 10 points to zero. The resulting chart lists the songs with the highest ratings for that week. It is exclusively for clients of the Rush Released CD, and at any given time it identifies the 40 most popular Rush Released songs out of an active universe of approximately 80 country-oriented songs.

Reflecting the diversity of the European country music radio environment, where the sounds and songs of traditional country music (and cowboy music, too,) are embraced alongside today's country music, artists who have had a Number One single on the Hotdisc Top 40 in the past two years include Tim McGraw, Mark Chesnutt, George Jones, Gretchen Peters, Michelle Wright, Gene Watson, Billy Yates, Vince Gill, T. Graham Brown, Lee Ann Rimes, the Bellamy Brothers, Clay Walker, Jim Reeves, Don Williams - and R.W. Hampton.

In fact, Cowboy's Prayer is Hampton's second #1 on the Hotdisc chart, following up his chart topping success early last year with We've Taken Bob Back To Tulsa from his monumental album, Oklahoma... Where The West Remains.

The timing is favorable for the chart success of Cowboy's Prayer: Hampton makes his first trip to the United Kingdom in early October at the invitation of the British Country Music Association to participate in the festivities surrounding their annual Awards show. Proper Music will release Austin To Boston in the United Kingdom on November 22, 2010, shortly after its Cimarron Sounds release in America.

Everyone at Savannah Music congratulates R.W. and wishes him continued success with his growing career - inside and outside the United States.

More can be learned about R.W. Hampton at his website.

About Savannah Music (USA) Inc.: A Tennessee-based artist management company and record label, Savannah Music (USA) Inc. represents the worldwide entertainment interests of Hampton and Canadian country star Michelle Wright.
